OH MY GOD @ THE VIPER ROOM THIS THURSDAY 9/16/09

Chicago's Oh My God has a sound that's virtually indescribable. That doesn't mean many haven't tried:

Dallas Observer: "Comparisons to such legendary oddballs as Frank Zappa, Pere Ubu and Devo are pretty spot on..."

Cincinnati City Beat: "Deep Purple meets Weezer..."

Chicago Time Out: "...the unlikely juxtaposition of Krautrock/prog architecture and Midwestern pop sensibilities..."

Santa Cruz Times: "Jimmy Smith and J.S. Bach..."

We'll put it more simply. Expect a shifting bass/guitar attack augmented by mercurial Hammond organ flights of fancy, insistent drums, and note-perfect baritone vocals, humorously engaging yet affectingly deep. It's a compelling mix from a talented, criminally underexposed American rock band.

This current tour is in support of their new long-player, The Night Undoes the Work of the Day, which drops September 29th. Word is preview copies will be unleashed at the show.

Here's a sample to whet your appetite. And here's another, in a totally different vein.

Come on out and the join the crew at VINE-YL. You can find us at the bar, perusing the cocktail menu for a decent wine by the glass.

Here's the links for advance tickets and directions.

Hope to see you at the show. We recommend pairing Oh My God with something wild, full of attitude and earnest playfulness, like a Sonoma Malbec. If the bar isn't pouring one, go for the Argentinian variety instead.

See you at the show!
